"Later" analyzed more than 25 million posts. It concluded that the best time to post on Instagram is at 6 a.m. on Sunday. These are the day and hour when your posted photos and videos get the highest engagement.

For the rest of the days, early morning hours are also the best time to post in your Instagram account. Your photos and videos also get more likes and comments, but not as many as on Sunday.

"Sprout Social" studied data of more than 20,000 of their users. They examined users' engagement depending on the posting time and profile topics on the platform. Thus, they figured out what is the good and bad time to post on Instagram.

On average, the best time to post on Instagram is on Tuesday at 11 a.m. to 14 p.m. The worst posting time is on Sunday. High user engagement is also noticed in posts published on Monday at 11 a.m.

We arranged the research results in a table. Find your Instagram profile topic on the left. On the right, you will see the best time to post on Instagram. If there are several days or time intervals, the engagement is the same in all of them.

How to figure out your best time to post on Instagram

General statistics above may be a good jump-off point to figure out your best time to post on Instagram. But user engagement, which depends on it, differs around the world, and changes over time. 

Besides, we see controversial figures in the research. So we want to experiment to figure out the time that will bring the highest engagement in reach for one of our Instagram accounts. Try to post on Instagram in the time recommended in the research results and then at different times. Compare and analyze the figures using Instagram Insights statistics.

In the IG Insights section, you can know more about your audience. Pay attention to Top Location and Most Active Times.

  • In Top Location, you can see what cities and countries your followers are from. Consider time zones if your Instagram posts are mostly viewed from countries abroad. 
  • In Most Active Times, you can find information about when your Instagram followers are usually online. You have data by days and hours there. Use it to figure out the patterns; thus you will find out the best time to post on Instagram for your profile.

For example, track a correlation between engagement and your subscribers activity. If they are increasing proportionally, it makes sense to post when your Instagram followers are online most often.

Consider Accounts Reached and Content Interactions in your Instagram account

  • In the Content Interactions, you can see how many people liked and commented on your Instagram posts. The numbers are also given for each content type. 

You can change the period for the displayed Instagram data. The minimal time interval is 7 days.
